N.E. Rotax and Shifter Kart SeriesApr 25, 2011N.E. Rotax and Shifter Kart Series Once again CRG chassis's dominate the season opener at Oakland Valley Race Park in Cuddebackville, New York. The weekend proved to be a true test of drivers and tuners, mother nature decided to throw a curve ball on Saturday, rain, cold temperatures, and high winds made for terrible conditions. In the ICC Shifter Kart race, CRG America's Alex Manglass driving a Maxter powered CRG Road Rebel earned the second step on the podium and taking home an extra $30.00 for his efforts. Elliott Mignot also driving a CRG/Maxter package came home in 6th.
On Saturday, CRG chassis's proved to be the chassis to be on in the inclement weather. Gavin Reichelt's proved to be the standard bearer in Rotax Junior taking wins in both the prefinal and final. Christian Sarnecki's two second place finishes in Mini Max were terrific finishes for his first ever RMAX race, in wet conditions. Hunter Bogar took the third step on the podium in Mini Max aboard his new CRG Big Al. Rotax Senior saw Nick Rivellini take a feature win on board his CRG Road Rebel. Carter Fartuch finished 4th on his CRG Blackstar, and Trent Hindman's run from last place to a 5th on his CRG KT1 rounded out the top 5. 2010 DD2 National Points Champion Kristina Vorndran topped the charts in DD2 on her CRG Dark Rider.
Sunday brought a much different day, sunny but a little cool, although there was a stiff breeze. That breeze was much needed to dry the track from the previous days monsoons. CRG's proved to be the karts to be on this day as well. In Rotax SR Carter Fartuch put his CRG on the pole with Trent Hindman in 4th. The Rotax Sr feature race was an all CRG affair, Carter took the #1 step on the podium and Trent took up the #2 step. Nick Rivellini had the best run from back in the back to a 4th place finish, another lap or two it would have been a podium sweep for CRG.
Mini Max driver Christin Sarnecki backed up his Saturday performance with another pair of second place finishes on Sunday. Rounding out the Mini Max podium was Hunter Bogar in 3rd as he repeated his finishes from Saturday as well.
In the highly competitive junior class, Gavin Reichelt proved that you can not keep him down. Having to start the pre final in last place due to tire issues, Gavin marched forward securing a solid top ten starting position for the Rotax Jr feature race. During the feature, Gavin had a terrific start, moving forward he set his sights on first place, until he came together with another competitor, the result was that Gavin was now in 12th place. Confident in his CRG, Gavin continued the hunt for 1st place. As the saying goes, "close but no cigar", Gavins efforts resulted in a 3rd place finish, an impressive run from the back.
All in all more great performances by CRG drivers and their tuners!
The next Rotax Regional and N.E. Shifter Kart Series race will be at New Jersey Motorsports Park on May 20-22nd.
