CRG History

C.R.G. S.p.A., the world leader for the manufacturing and marketing of chassis and spare parts for karts, was founded in 1986 thanks to the experience of its partners, matured starting from the seventies in the company KaliKart. KaliKart was born as a little factory producing hobby chassis but in a few years it changed into a nationwide company, selling its products in all of Italy and in 1979 it won the 125cc Italian championship.

The new company C.R.G. S.p.A., established itself within the international karting scene, thanks to a constant commitment in the research and technical development of its products. In the early 1990's, it changed from a small hometown production into an industrial manufacture. During that period CRG saw a widespread expansion of importers and distributors in the five continents, with a particular interest for the key markets of Europe and U.S.A.. Today , CRG,officially has 70 distributors all over the world with ever increasing numbers, with the new importers of the rising markets.

Also in the 1990's, the company started the development of a new company for the manufacture and design of karting engines. The new company required a high specialization, both for the manufacturing structure and for the different skills required of the staff. So after the company and production reorganization in the year 2000 the management decided to create a separate company: Maxter S.r.L.

In 2003 the company experienced another reorganization which resulted in the establishment of the Tinini Group, the leading company that controls and coordinates both Maxter S.r.L. and the new co. C.R.G. S.p.A., now focused only on its core business. Both the operating units have recently moved to a new industrial area, which is much more suitable for the leading role they are playing in their field.

The commitment of C.R.G. S.p.A. is centred not only on the technological evolution of the karts and their components, but also on the international competitions: the results achieved by the Racing Team boasts a huge number of victories in the World and European Championship and many continental titles. A staff of highly skillfull professional mechanics supports the official drivers during the races, providing them with precious technical support. They have also the task of testing the new products of the company, combining the trial on the track to the study and the research carried on inside the company.

We consider C.R.G. a real factory of champions, this is evidence of the great number of drivers who passed from the karting to the Formula 1, thanks to their characteristic qualities. Some examples? Michael Schumacher, Ralf Schumacher, Raikkonen, Fisichella, Heidfeld, Liuzzi, Nico Rosberg, Kubica, Lewis Hamilton... all of them have raced on C.R.G. chassis'!

The commitment of the company for the technical and qualitative improvement of its products steadily continues in time, and this is confirmed by the drivers that every year bring C.R.G. to the top positions of the national and international championships. The passion is the same...and the evolution goes on!

CRG America's Excellent Adventure!

Now that I have grabbed your attention, we would like to bounce an idea off all of the people that read our newsletter.

We are wondering how many people would be interested in going to Italy and visit CRG and Maxter? We have not spoken with a travel agent yet, but we want to gage peoples interest before getting into the do the dollars and cents.

We would try to schudule the visit to correspond with the 2012 Winter Cup Race in South Garda. Our first thoughts would have the group fly on Wednesday evening, arriving in Lonato Thursday afternoon. Friday would be spent touring the CRG and Maxter factories. Friday afternoon,Saturday and Sunday would be at the race. Winter Cup is the first race of the 2012 European season, so all the factories are there with all the latest in chassis's and engines. Winter cup takes place in February.

Finally we would fly home on the Monday after the races.

If you have any interest in joining us on our "Excellent Adventure" give Dave or myself a call or send us an email. If we have good interest in the trip, we will get more information for everyone.

Chassis Updates 2011.5

2011.5 Chassis Changes

CRG S.p.A. for 2011 has made some mid year

chassis advancements for the premier line chassis's. The premier line karts consist of the CRG Black Star, KT1 and Road Rebel.

All of the 2011 Premier Line chassis's will come with a welded lower shifter boss and a removable upper shifter boss. Also all of the chassis's will feature and angled rear cross bar.

Mid year changes start with a new bearing hanger and bearing cassette, which allows the wheelbase to be changed by up to 8mm. the bearing cassette is pictured above. A new pipe mount and mounting system is being introduced. This system is a little bit lighter and is easier to work on. CRG has reworked the steering shaft front support, making steering shaft changes much easier. Finally, CRG has made some changes to the front spindles. The new design uses a 3 holes instead of the 2 hole design to affix the tie rods. The 3 hole design allows for even greater ackermann adjustment.

A change that is approximately a month away is a new design steering wheel. The new steering wheel will feature a flat top and bottom with a 340mm diameter which results in a stiff wheel to help out those racers that use front brakes.
